Mitchell Freeway PSP Upgrade

Overview: As part of a larger expansion of Mitchell Freeway Southbound, we were responsible for upgrading the principle-shared path.

Our Role: E&S formwork, installation of reo & placement of concrete to Principal Shared Path (PSP) dive structure, noise walls, gantry base footings, slab & footings to box culvert & barriers.

Value add/Innovation: The site was significantly constrained as there was live traffic to the west of the work area, and a PSP to the east. The freeway and PSP could not be closed during the day, and we were restricted to a fourhour working window each night. As a result, we developed a construction methodology, and staging plan, to align with this constraint. It was critical that there were no hazards, and that the ground conditions were satisfactory to accommodate traffic when the freeway/PSP reopened after each shift. We developed a handover process to ensure a thorough inspection of the work area took place before it reopened to ensure there were no risks to traffic or members of the public.
